Red Carpet Buzz: Lily Collins

 Lily Collins

Red Carpet Buzz: Crystal Renn

The model steps out for the New Yorkers for Children Spring Dinner Dance

Who: Crystal Renn
What:  8th Annual New Yorkers for Children Spring Dinner Dance
Wear:  Z Spoke by Zac Posen dress
Crystal Renn looked stunning in this floor-length Z Spoke by Zac Posen number, on the arm of the dapper designer himself. The chic duo attended the annual New Yorkers for Children Spring Dinner Dance to benefit youth in foster care on Tuesday night in New York City. With its well-placed cut-outs and body-hugging silhouette, this black dress is anything but boring and manages to strike the perfect balance of sexy and elegant. We love how she keeps it simple with just a glam pair of statement earrings and a red lip. The plus-size model walked in Zac's A/W '11 runway show last month and modeled his Pre-Fall collection before that. Clearly, it's a match made in heaven.

Red Carpet Buzz: Reese Witherspoon

The 'Water for Elephants' actress attends the premiere in Jason Wu

Who:  Reese Witherspoon
What:  Water for Elephants premiere in New York City
Wear:  Jason Wu Fall 2011 dress
Reese Witherspoon looked every inch an American beauty  in an elegant Jason Wu confection at the Water for Elephants premiere in New York City last night. Witherspoon is no stranger to Wu’s designs but this look might take the cake. The classic silhouette, on-trend cream color, and bubble hem (we need not mention her hot vampire accessory) add just the right amount of drama to her look. The shorter hem length shows of Witherspoon’s killer legs and her simple drop earrings let the dress really shine.

Actress Hilary Swank may have missed out on an Oscar nomination this year, but that certainly didn't stop her from creating a sensation. The Armani Prive dress that she wore to the Vanity Fair after-party plunged almost to her navel and scooped incredibly low at the back. The Million Dollar Baby star's modesty was saved only by a a piece of sheer mesh which kept the bold neckline from gaping wide open.

VJ-turned actor Sophie Chaudhary, known for her dressing style in the tinsel town, wore a black dress which grabbed lot of attention. Sophie was seen in a see-through black Manav Ganwani gown.

'Sex and the City' gals' first fashion show: Fab or flop?

Together again! And it feels so right.
Those "Sex and the City: the Movie" femme fatales created a fashionable furor Sunday on the red carpet for the international premiere in London.

Kristin Davis
looks simply smashing in a vintage Guy Laroche red dress and YSL peep-toe pumps.
Cynthia Nixon dares to bare -- and it works! -- in a black sparkling Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein gown, Bulgari jewelry and Prada shoes. Okay, how is it that she's the sexiest of these four girls? And does this finally take the wind out of those ugly rumors about what Pat Field said about her being the most difficult to dress?

Not too crazy about Kim Cattrall's off-the-shoulder stiff red frock by Vivienne Westwood. Or that tres severe 'do. And would a necklace have been asking too much?
Hey, where's Jennifer Hudson? Fans started screaming her name when they spotted someone who looked like her. Ooops. It was just Kelly Rowland.
Although the Brits loved it, the international jury is still out on Sarah Jessica Parker's Alexander McQueen shoes and pistachio chiffon strapless dress and that chunk of bloomin' meadow on her head -- courtesy of British mad hatter Philip Treacy -- complete with fluttering butterflies.

What, Treacy was fresh out of honey bees, dung beetles and earthworms?

Cannes Day 9: Get the look- Penelope Cruz’s red dress

Penelope Cruz stepped out during day 9 of the Canne’s film festival to host an auction in aid of the Jenkins-Penn Haitian relief organisation.
The spanish actress stepped out in a gorgeous red wrap dress and silver shoes to mark the occasion, which aims to raise funds by auctioning off star’s dresses. And one celeb that really came up trump is Salma Hayek who donated the first ever Gucci Couture dress, which she wore to day one of the Cannes film festival.
However, we feel we’ve spoken enough about Salma so we decided to have a trawl around to see if we could find a frock similar to Pen’s at of course, a highstreet price. And we did. Now it’s not exactly the same, but the neckline and length are almost identical to Ms Cruz’s. It’s from Very and we think it’s a steal at £59.
Team it up with flats for a day in the office or with heels and accessories for a night out.

Jennifer Lopez: which Oscar dress is worse?

Bubble Wrap Dress

I completely forgot Jennifer Lopez’s “bubble wrap dress” when I was doing the fashion posts earlier today, although I did mention on the live red carpet post that I thought it looked horrible. At first, on television, I thought the Armani PrivĂ© dress was polka-dotted, white on pale pink or something like that. Now that I’m looking at photos of it, I still think the fabric is weird, but not as bad as before. Unfortunately, the fabric wasn’t the only problem. The problem was the cut, the design, the weirdness of it. New York Magazine notes that Vogue’s AndrĂ© Leon Talley claimed it was his “favorite dress of the night” but NY Mag also snarks that it “looked like it had a vagina flapping off of it.” What’s wrong with that?!? Haha.
What was worse, in my opinion, was that Jennifer decided that she would be one of the chosen Oscar attendees who needed a costume change before hitting the party circuit. Now, I get why, like, a nominee or a winner would want to change: because they probably sweated through their Oscar clothes. But Jennifer? Why does she need a costume change? And why this dress (below)? If you thought you hated her Oscar dress, I give you this fugness:

David Meister Dresses; on the Emmy Red Carpet, on Tina Fey and, now, in Loehmann’s

While Tina Fey is definitely more known right now for her SNL appearances as Sarah Palin, we need to get our priorities straight and bring all this political talk back to fashion:

Tina Fey looked fantastic on the Emmy red carpet wearing a David Meister original gown.

Yes, she lost her purse, but winning for outstanding lead actress, outstanding writing, and then the top outstanding comedy series, 30 Rock, can pretty much make up for a lost bag. It is great to see an intelligent actress and writer being honored for funny and smart acting and writing.
Now frequently, if a woman scores well with intelligence, the media has a field day ripping apart her appearance, but that just can’t happen with Tina Fey. For the big Emmy red carpet walk, Tina wore a tailored, yet sexy David Meister strapless gown in a classic navy blue. And everyone had to admit, funny and looks great!

Loehmann’s has a lovely shipment of David Meister designs hitting the selling floor.

So even if you don’t have a red carpet event in your near future, Holiday parties and events are right around the corner.  While it might be tempting to pretend to be Tina Fey, the best bet is to just follow her lead. And be who you are naturally, showing off your own talents and assets in a well fitting, beautifully designed David Meister original.
Plus, if it is from Loehmann’s where your fashion sense and your fashion cents combine, allowing you to get the best for less.
